How to create a Litecoin wallet

08/11/2024

The Litecoin coin has been holding its place on the market for years. In a relatively short time, it gained recognition from miners and support from some top exchanges. The main advantage of LTC is its low fees on the blockchain network.

You can trade Litecoin on one of these exchanges: BinanceBybit, MEXC, Gate.io, KuCoin, XeggeX.

We will walk you through two ways to create a wallet for Litecoin:

We do not recommend mining directly to an exchange. If you choose to mine on an exchange, you do so at your own risk. Not your keys, not your crypto!

How to Register a Litecoin Wallet on Trust Wallet

Trust Wallet is a simple and secure wallet for LTC, recommended by developers and exchanges. You can use the mobile app on your smartphone or the browser extension.

The wallet extension supports Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers. Here’s how to install it using Google Chrome.

  1. Go to the Trust Wallet website — https://trustwallet.com/

  2. Click “Download for Chrome”;

  3. The extension installation page will open; click “Add to Chrome” → Confirm the extension installation in your browser;

  4. After installation, open the wallet. The wallet icon will appear in the top right of your browser window, in the extensions menu;

  5. In the wallet window, click “Create a new wallet”;

  6. Set a password to access the wallet, confirm it, and click “Next.” Note that the password cannot be recovered, so store it in a safe place!

  7. Next, you will receive a secret phrase — a 12-word combination. Losing this means losing access to your wallet! Write down the words in the order they are presented to you. After you record the phrase, click “Proceed.” The wallet will prompt you to confirm the phrase by arranging the words in the correct order.

  8. After successful verification, you need to add LTC. On the main screen, click “Manage crypto” and select LTC from the list.

  9. Your wallet is ready to use. Select the LTC coin and click “Receive.” Your LTC wallet address will appear; copy it to begin receiving funds!

How to Register a Litecoin (LTC) Wallet on an Exchange

This method is convenient because you don’t need to set up multiple wallets. Everything is stored on a single exchange, with all coins and wallets accessible, and you can immediately trade or exchange your cryptocurrency.

There are also drawbacks: the security of all your wallets on the exchange depends on the security of your account. Make sure you’ve protected your email and exchange account, and enabled two-factor authentication (2FA).

  1. Register on any exchange that offers Litecoin trading (in this example, we will use Binance);

  2. After registration, select “Dashboard” → “Deposit”;

  3. The deposit page will open; select “Coin → LTC”, “Network → LTC”, and obtain the “Deposit Address”;

  4. Done! You’ve obtained your exchange wallet address. Click the icon next to the wallet address to copy it. Use this address for mining or to receive coins directly to your account.
