How to create Tari (XTM) wallet

2025. 8. 11.

Tari (XTM) is a Layer 1 blockchain written in Rust. It uses the Mimblewimble protocol for private and fast transactions. Tari (XTM) can be mined on CPUs using the RandomX algorithm (like Monero), and on GPUs using the SHA3X algorithm.

Tari (XTM) can be exchanged on MEXC, CoinEX.

We will discuss two methods for creating a Tari (XTM) coin wallet:

  • Mobile app.
  • Online exchange platform.

We do not recommend mining to exchange. If you choose mining to an exchange, you do so at your own risk. Not your keys — not your crypto!

How to Create a Tari XTM Wallet in the Mobile App

  1. Download the Tari wallet for your phone: Android or iOS.

  2. Launch the wallet and tap “Create a wallet.”

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your wallet.

  4. Once you have created a password to protect your wallet, the main menu will open. Tap “Receive,” then “Copy” to copy your wallet address.

  5. Done! Use the copied wallet address for mining or receiving coins.

Be sure to create a backup to restore your wallet!

  1. Go to Settings → Wallet Backups → Write Down Seed Phrase.
  2. You’ll receive a secret phrase — a combination of 24 words. Losing it means losing access to your wallet! Write down and save the words in the exact order shown. The wallet will test your memory by asking you to place the words in the correct sequence.
  3. You can also save a backup of your wallet to the cloud.

How to Register a Tari XTM Wallet on the Exchange

This method is convenient because you don’t need to register multiple wallets. Everything is stored on one exchange, and all coins and wallets are easily accessible. You can immediately exchange or trade your cryptocurrency without any hassle.

Some cons: The security of all your exchange wallets depends on the security of your exchange account. To ensure the utmost security, make sure to secure your email, exchange account, and enable two-factor authentication (2FA).

Keep in mind that sometimes exchanges change the address for depositing cryptocurrencies. The pool will not be able to change the address to which you are mining, so some unpaid cryptocurrency may be lost.

  1. Sign up on any exchange that supports trading Tari XTM (in this example, we will use MEXC).

  2. Once registered, click on “Deposit” icon, then choose “On-Chain Deposit.”

  3. You will be taken to the deposit page. From the list of coins, select “XTM”, and from the list of networks, choose “MINOTARI.”

  4. That’s it! You now have a wallet address for deposits to the exchange. Click the icon next to the address to copy it. Use this address for mining or receiving coins to your account.
